Washington Capitals Campaign Concepts
Concept-driven campaign exploration designed to extend team presence
beyond the arena and into everyday environments.
Overview
This work explores a series of campaign concepts developed to reimagine how a professional sports team could show up within everyday environments. The goal was to create unexpected, high-impact moments that blur the line between the game and daily life—making the brand more visible, memorable, and culturally present.
As Creative Director, I led a team effort to develop and shape these concepts into a cohesive campaign direction for presentation.
Creative Direction
The central idea was simple:
Bring the energy of the game into the real world.
Rather than limiting the brand to arenas, broadcasts, or traditional advertising placements, the concepts explored how players and game moments could appear in unexpected contexts—public spaces, workplaces, and everyday interactions.
This approach created:
Immediate visual disruption
Strong shareability
A sense of surprise and delight
A more immersive brand presence
Concept Approach
Each concept was designed around a familiar setting, interrupted by the presence of the game:
Public spaces transformed into extensions of the arena
Workplace environments disrupted by game action
Media placements designed to feel unexpected and dynamic
Experiential moments that invite interaction and participation
The result is a campaign system that can scale across:
out-of-home
digital
social
experiential activations
Outcome
The work established a clear creative platform for extending the brand beyond traditional channels, demonstrating how campaign concepts could create more immersive and culturally relevant touchpoints.
